Yes leather is porous and water (moisture) is good for leather and is what keeps it in good condition.

Leather has to 'breathe'. This means that the leather naturally transpires which allows the movement of moisture back and forth through the leather.

All finshes and finishing processes that are used (including repair processes) have to use specific products that allow this movement of moisture to take place.
