* Changes in style, music, clothing * Hanging out with a "bad crowd" (your child will imitate these peers) * Changes in grades/behavior at school, tardiness * Isolation from family * Changes in sleep patterns (i.e. sleeping all the time, not sleeping as much) * Changes in eating patterns (increase or decrease in appetite) * Paranoia * Decrease in personal hygiene * Secrecy * Sudden mood swings or bursts of anger * Lies, constant coverups * Excessive spending (i.e. constantly asking for money, money missing, etc) * Stealing (items missing from your home to pay for drug habit) * Strange odors on clothing (smoking) * Nosebleeds (from snorting drugs) Parents often miss very obvious signs of drug use in teens, passing it off as teenage problems. Any major change in your teen should be investigated carefully, but respectfully. Please, please do not fall into paranoia yourself and take privacy away from your child. If you respectfully keep good communication with your child, they will respectfully communicate back.
