It depends on what kind of extensions you put in:The glue in extensions use a "bond". These only last about a week or so depending on how often you wash your hair. They are EXTREMELY damaging and I don't recommend them.
The individual extensions look like small strands of hair, glued together. You "fuse" these to your hair, and while they look better, they take A LOT of time and also damage your hair because they use the same sort of bonding agent.
The braid in ones usually last the longest, but they cost the most to get professionally done. I'm not sure how damaging they are, but a lot of stylists that I've talked to say this is way better than gluing.
I learned a new technique recently that you can use with either tracks or individuals. I'm not sure what it's called, but you take small sections of your hair and the extensionsusing a hook and pull it through a small metal circle thing. After you do that, you use a clamp to secure it all together. It takes a lot of time, but it looks great and it lasts a long time. It's also really easy to get out and it doesn't damage your hair much, if at all.
Whatever method you chose, you should make sure to buy high quality hair. Even if you glue them in, good hair can be reused multiple times.
