Nipper was an advertising icon. He was the dog that served as a model in the advertisement for His Late Masters Voice audio recording systems. A Jack Russell terrier born in 1884 in Bristol and was painted looking into the Bell of an Edison cylinder phonograph as though he recognised the voice recorded on the cylinder. He was called Nipper as he liked to bite peoples ankles. He died in 1895
