How many people live in haiti now?

According to public record, before the earthquake there was a population of about 9,000,000 in Haiti. But with controversy over the official death toll caused by the massive quake, there is no exact number of deaths so there is no exact census of the population. From the information I have gathered, around 230,000 people died in the earthquake which struck in early 2010 making the current population around 8,800,000.
