Saint Geronimo, also known as Saint Jerome, was a Christian scholar and translator born around 347 AD in Stridon, which is believed to be in modern-day Croatia or Slovenia. He is best known for his translation of The Bible into Latin, known as the Vulgate, which became the standard text for the Catholic Church. Jerome was also a prominent theologian and ascetic, and his writings contributed significantly to Christian thought. He is commemorated on September 30 in the Catholic Church.
