Can the sun bleach dark brown hair to a blonde color?

It will lighten it slightly (even a few blond hairs around the temple area) but most dark-haired people will have more red highlights in their hair. No, you can't go totally blond from the sun if you are dark haired.

it can in some cases! mine was a dark red/brown before i went on holiday, but by the time i got back it was really light

I knew a guy in grade school whose hair was black but blond on top, so it can happen!

LUCAS: It happened to my grammy. she was out in her garden all the time wsorking and her hair turned from dark brown to blonde, if you figure out how long it takes. please tell me so i can do it too!

---I highly doubt the sun ever turns dark hair into blonde. I spend every single saturday and sunday either on the beach for 8-10 hours or on a kayak half a mile into the ocean. My hair is "dirty blonde" people say, I consider it light brown. After 2 years of this routine, my hair MAY have lightened a tiny bit, but it's still a far cry from blonde. I should add, I live in Florida. The UV index in summertime is an 11, I don't know that the index even goes any higher than that. Also, I goto the beach year round, as it doesn't ever really get cold enough to not go.
