In which year did the stock market start operating?

There are early forms of what later became the Stock Market dating back to the 11th century in Cairo. Over the centuries, merchants trading among themselves evolved to brokers representing banks. In 1602, the Dutch East India Company was the first company to issue stocks and bonds to outsiders through the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
