What was the role of women on the homefront during World War 1?

They were to take over the jobs of the men who left for war, this increased further as conscription was implemented. The most common job was in the munitions industry. They were as well to be the owner of their land as the original owner,( the man) had left for war. Soon, Nellie McClung, and Alberta legislator pushed for the homestead act which allows women who are not married to be entitled to land. hope this helped ya :D
