Who officially ended the Roman Republic?

The Roman Republic officially ended in 31 BC after Actium when Octavian assumed sole power. However you could say it unofficially ended years earlier when Julius Caesar was made dictator for life. Unofficially because the Dictatorship was a republican office even though the power was given to one person.
