How are the alleles for sex-linked traits inherited?

Sex-linked traits are inherited through alleles located on the sex chromosomes, specifically the X and Y chromosomes. In humans, females have two X chromosomes (XX) and males have one X and one Y chromosome (XY). Since sex-linked traits are carried on the X chromosome, they are inherited differently in males and females. Males inherit sex-linked traits from their mothers, as they receive their only X chromosome from their mother.
