If you kill the animal you must cut off the tail if it has one. Then you must carfully remove the fur from the carcuss, After that you must lay it out flat on a table or ground with the fur facing the ground. Next you use your knife and slowly trim away all the fat. Once you have done that just make a structure and place the hide over it no tanning is needed if you are in the wilderness.
