Do you have herpes if your blood test says you've been exposed I've been to different doctors and they've told me different things. I've never had an outbreak or any sores in my genital area?

and i've been with my boyfriend for almost 3 years. I've gotten told this before I even met him, but he just got a thorough check and doesnt have it and hasnt even been exposed..does this just mean I have had sex with somebody that has herpes or does this mean I definitely have it
