Why is the main reason that the elephants is one of the endangered species?

This might be due to poaching,and we all know that elephant tuusks are very rare and can be sold for a lot of money,so poeple kill elephants and use their tusks to sell for money and everyday more and more elephants die because of this.......thanx I hope I anwered your question! :)
