Will your pregnant cat know if her kittens are aborted?

No. Aborting a pregnant animal's unborn will help control the pet population.

Every year, upwards of 5 million perfectly healthy cats and dogs are murdered every year in shelters due to overcrowding and over populating. Take a look at your pets at home. Now imagine them in that cold, dark room at the shelter and watch the fear in their eyes as that needle is inserted in their veins and they begin to feel the effects of the murdering drug. Their pupils are wide. There is fear in their eyes. Then they collapse and struggle for about 30 seconds and then they are gone.

Results from surverys done in the previous years, shows that at the time nationwide euthanasias had gone down 75% in the preceding 20 years on a dog and cat population basis. With the increased emphasis on spay and neuter, and the emergence of rescue groups in the past few years, there's every reason to think that the trend has continued. If so, today, the national annual shelter and pound euthanasia rate would be around 4% of the total dog and cat populations. Numbers of the two species have been roughly comparable; however, the favorable trend in cats is slowing and may have reversed in some areas due to the establishment of feral breeding populations.

Well, my cat recently had a spontaneous abortion during very early pregnancy and developed a vaginal infection. I had her spayed once I discovered the infection. A few days after the surgery, the cat began being very vocal. She would try to grab ahold of my hand and my other cat's scruff to move us somewhere as if we were her new born kittens. I believe she knew she was pregnant, and now after the surgery she no longer had that feeling but still had motherly instincts.
