yes, but only to an extent, as newer technologies become available, outdated items wont be of much use, ex) I can upgrade my own computer I built with the latest CPU, but if another CPU comes out in the future, it might require a more powerful motherboard which would be in a sense, "changing" the "present" computer to a "future computer"
