The reservoir for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is primarily the subarachnoid space, which is located between the arachnoid mater and the pia mater layers of the meninges surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Additionally, CSF is produced by the choroid plexus in the brain's ventricles and circulates through these spaces, providing cushioning, nutrient transport, and waste removal for the central nervous system. The CSF is ultimately absorbed into the bloodstream through structures called arachnoid granulations.
