Obama started school in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1965; he first attended a Catholic school there, and then a public school. In 1972, he returned to Hawaii and went to the Punahou Academy in Honolulu from 1971 until 1979 (junior high through high school). He then attended college at Occidental College in L.A (1979-1981),

Columbia University (1981-1983) and after working for about five years, attended Harvard University Law School (1988-1991).
