What is green criminology?

Green criminology extends the study of criminology from acts that simply violate criminal law to acts that are socially harmful. This includes harming non-human animals and the environment. It is rooted in environmental and animal rights and seeks to examine not only obviously harmful activities (like dumping toxic waste into the ocean) but debatable issues (such as eating meat).
