How many pages of pure 16-bits Unicode text can a 650MB CD-ROM hold?

Each ASCII character requires one byte.

Assuming that a typical page of text holds about 2000 characters, then the CD-ROM can hold about :

Unicode would store half as much, but with multilingual capability.

This result does not include space used for illustrations. It also does not include fonts and graphic formatting used for WYSIWYG display, which would require some space. The result gives a good idea of the incredible capacity of CD-ROMs.
