That depends what you mean by "produce". You may be aware that you can't create energy where there was none before.

  • In a perfectly elastic collision, no kinetic energy is lost.
  • In an inelastic collision (the objects stick together after the collision), much of the kinetic energy is converted into other forms of energy, mainly heat.
