Achilles' armor was borrowed by Patroclus, his close friend and companion, in the Greek mythological epic, the "Iliad." Patroclus donned the armor to inspire the Greek troops and to fight against the Trojans in Achilles' place. This act ultimately led to his death, as he was killed by Hector, which prompted Achilles to re-enter the battle in grief and rage over Patroclus' fate.
