Acrylic is made through a process called polymerization, where the monomer methyl methacrylate (MMA) is chemically transformed into a polymer. First, MMA is mixed with a catalyst and sometimes other additives to facilitate the reaction. The mixture is then heated or exposed to ultraviolet light to initiate polymerization, causing the MMA molecules to bond and form long chains, creating acrylic resin. Finally, the resin is cooled and can be shaped or molded into various forms, such as sheets or beads, for use in different applications.
