What does this Les Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry manuscript depict?

Un livre d'heures was basically a (richly illustrated) prayer book, often containing a calendar. "Les très riches heures du Duc de Berry" are famous for their illustrations, for the calendar part: a banquet, rural scenes in Winter, plowing, a nobleman courting his fiancee, a calvacade, the hay, harvest, hunting, harvesting the grapes, sowing, the pig herder, the killing of a boar. Eight additional large pictures, mostly about antiquity or Italy, are also included in the book: the anatomical zodiac man, Eden, the Virgin Mary, the Wise Men (the Magi), the plan of Rome.

The depiction of rural scenes of the late Middle Ages, the outstanding quality of the work and the Excellent conservation of the work all give a special value to that book.
