· Achievements:
· Gustav Nossal earned a BSc (Med) in 1953 and a B Medicine and Surgery in 1955.
· Worked as a Research Fellow at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (the Hall Institute).
· He was Assistant Professor of Genetics at Stanford University.
· In 1968 he spent one year at the Pasteur Institute in Paris and in 1976.
· He was a Special Consultant to the World Health Organisation.
· He served as Professor of Medical Biology at the University of Melbourne.
· He was Director of the Hall Institute from 1965 to 1996.
· Nossal's was very influential in the field of fundamental immunology, in the field of "antibody formation and immunological tolerance". He has written five books and 530 scientific articles in this and related fields.
