How are the parts of an expert system related?

An expert system consists of three main components: the knowledge base, which contains domain-specific information and rules; the inference engine, which applies logical rules to the knowledge base to derive conclusions; and the user interface, which allows users to interact with the system. These parts work together to simulate human decision-making by enabling the system to interpret input, apply relevant knowledge, and provide solutions or recommendations. The knowledge base feeds information to the inference engine, which processes it to generate outputs that are then communicated through the user interface.
