What is the meaning of the name Paihia?

It's German for "whale's vagina"

No, it does not mean whale vagina! At least, not for the place name in New Zealand... Apparently, missionary Henry Williams was looking for a good site to set up and said to his Maori guides "Pai (good in Maori) here". They misunderstood his Words and though he said "Paihia", which may or may not mean "mashed food".

How stupid. It does not mean Whales Vagina....not in NZ anyway. Its meaning is 'Good here' (partial transliteration)
