What does cc in bikes cars etc means?

Cubic centimeters, an example: Suzuki gsxr 750 has a motor with a displacement of 750cc, this displacement is the volume covered as the piston moves from top to bottom. 1000cc equals 1 liter. So a 4 liter v8, each piston displaces 500cc, 8 x 500cc= 4000cc or 4 liters.
