How many athletes drink Gatorade?

Researchers from the University of Florida working with the athletic department came up with an electrolyte drink that would help rehydrate athletes better than water. Because the mascot of U of F is the Gator, they called the drink Gatorade. it is possible that they determined that the name of the drink should be Gator-ade, perhaps as a play on the drink name lemonade(lemon being the first flavor developed), and a pun on the Word aid and suffix-ade.
