I don't know who asked this but I would have thought it is different for different types of wounds. Mine is a head injury via a shotgun accident to the head. The left hand side of the face, neck, right ear and surprisingly my wisdom tooth which a piece of shot was found original in my jaw but as I grew the shot became part of my wisdom tooth.

The original shotgun wound does not actually hurt, you have a pins and needles sensation as the body goes into shock. It is only later that it really starts to hurt so much so that any movement is excruciating to a point where you can pass out from the pain.

The physical examination where you are prodded and poked can make you pass out it certainly did me.

Mine resulted in lots of operations to the eye, loss of usable sight due to damage, long term memory problems, health problems both physical and mental. Retention of shotgun pellets may have left further problems.

I am sure others who have experienced a shotgun accident will have a different experience but the general answer is IT HURTS but the long term effects are far more devastating than the initial physically pain.
