Where is the oil filter on 300D Mercedes-Benz?

MB C200 2001 model has its Oil filter located on top of the engine.. remove the cover(Held by clips) that surrounds the Oil Level dipstick and you can find the Oil Filter in an inverted position. Hope this helps// Pls make sure to change the seal (

My 1979 300D has the oil filter at the RHS rear of the engine (looking from the front) next to the battery. It's a cast aluminum cylinder with two nuts at the top and a sticker saying "Mann 6740473113" on the side. Undo the two nuts, remove the top cover and lift the cartridge out by its small wire handle (trying to avoid dripping black oil everywhere!)

Make sure that when you replace the top of the oil filter cover that the seal is seated properly or it will leak in copius amounts.
