How do you program a body control module?

While there are a few minor changes that you can make to a vehicle's computer, in general the program is in ROM, and you'll need to replace the ROM to make changes to the way the vehicle runs.

In some situations the dealer can connect one of their diagnostic computers and flash a new program into the ROM, but beyond that, you'd need an expensive diagnostic computer to be able to do that.
