How did the Mona Lisa get to the louvre?

The Mona Lisa was acquired by King Francis I of France in the early 16th century after Leonardo da vinci brought it to France. Following da Vinci's death in 1519, the painting remained in royal collections and eventually became part of the Louvre Museum when it was established in the late 18th century. The painting has since become one of the museum's most famous and celebrated works.
