Why are there so many uno cards in a pack?

I'm guessing UNO originated from either Italy or Spain.

UNO in Italian and Spanish means 'One'. The point of the game is to get rid of as many cards as you can. When you only have one more card you say "UNO".

I think that's why they called the game UNO.
