How is constantnople doing now in 2009?

Constantinople (note the correct spelling) changed it's name to Istanbul in 1930. Today, the city generates 55% of Turkey's trade and 45% of the country's wholesale trade, and generates 21.2% of Turkey's gross national product. It is a thriving big city.
