Clothes Airer Installation guideCAUTION: Your ceiling must be capable of supporting the weight of the unit when full of damp laundry. If in doubt contact a qualified person to assist you with installation.

  • Measure the space where you are going to install your Laundry Maid and ensure the centres of the two ceiling pulleys are less than the overall length of the wooden rails and there is clearance space at either end.
  • The double pulley should be approximately two feet away from the wall you will be fixing the cleat that is used for tying off the pulley ropes.
  • Mark the two centre points on the ceiling.
  • Drill two pilot holes large enough to enable the pulleys to be screwed by hand into the ceiling joist and then screw the pulleys into position.
  • Fix the cleat to the wall, in line with the two pulleys.
  • Slide the wooden rails into the rack ends on the floor and position the rack directly under the two pulleys.
  • Pass one end of the rope over the back wheel of the double pulley, then over the single pulley wheel. Pull the rope down and tie it to the top of the rack end under the single pulley.
  • Does the same thing with the other end of the rope, but this time only pass the rope over the front wheel off the double pulley and down to the other rack end, tie as before.
  • Now start to pull the clothes airer up into position using both ropes to get it level. When you are happy with the height of the airier, tie a knot in the rope just under the wall cleat. When you pull the clothes airer up, hook the knot under the wall cleat. When the airer is in the loading position adjust the rope to suit the desired height and tie-off on the cleat.
