What is the difference between pre-Shakespearean fairies and post-Shakespearean fairies?

Pre-shakespearean fairies and Fairies during the Shakespeare rush as we fairies like to call it, were much closer to the real things (we do not have wands though), whereas nowadays, fairies are supposedly tiny creatures with wands who are always giggling like "he he" and are pictured as AIRHEAD IDIOTS!!!!!!!! It is SO NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
