integrated pest management is a process where people or organisations such as in New Zealand where DoC (department of Conservation) take measures to ensure the safety and survival of native or endemic species. These species can be put in jeopardy when introduced pest species put pressures on their survival. E.g. Introduced Stoats are predators to Kiwi in New Zealand rendering them a critically endangered species.

Pests are sometimes not introduced but simply become so through massive reproductive success periods. Integrated pest management serves to aim to reduce the amount of pests in areas where repercussions of their effects are felt.
