Why do center of continents have warmer summer and cold winters?

In summer, the center of a continent heats up more than coastal areas due to the lack of nearby water to absorb and release heat. In winter, the absence of oceanic warmth causes the center of continents to cool down more rapidly, leading to colder temperatures compared to coastal regions.
