How old do koi have to be before you can breed them?

It depends on the species of fish. Most short lived fish like livebearers will start breeding at a few weeks and so will many of the smaller silversides like Australian Rainbows, some tetras and some daniOS. Others like some of the larger cichlids may not start until they are several years old.
