Iceland has five geothermal power stations, which produce 30% of the country's energy. As well, geothermal heating warms 87% of all buildings in Iceland.
However, the US generates the most electricity from geothermal sources, though it is only 0.3% of the nation's electricity. Other countries, in order of production (2012) are The Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, Italy and New Zealand, followed by Iceland.
