Does the Nile River flow into the Mediterranean Sea?

There is now, not only on the congecture of , but seemingly imaging evidence found byt the space shuttle and disclosed in a Time magazine issue from that suggests that, somehow, the Nile originally flowed accross the Sahara basin and emptied directly into the Atlantic Ocean.
