Why is the Nile is a giver and taker of life?

people living along the river planted seeds in the fertile soil after the floods went down.much of the land near the nile was desert.without the river crops could not grow people would not have enough water to survive.it was a taker of life because sometime it flooded too much and destroyed crops and killed people.Other times the river did not flood enough.
