A drop of bright red nail polish had already soaked in to my favorite jeans by the time I got to my nail polish remover, so I couldn't scrape it off first as other folks answers indicate is a must. I cleaned it as best I could with regular NAIL POLISH REMOVER (which smeared it and made it lighter, but larger...I also rubbed vs. blotted which would have probably been better). I used a soaked cotton ball with a clean cloth underneath. For the remaining residue I then tried Amazing Cleaner (as recommended by others on other sites) and water with a soft tooth brush, nothing. I then tried plain ACETONE (also recommended by others) with a soft toothbrush and a clean cloth underneath. It helped a bit, but the residue still remained. I then tried Palmolive Oxy dish washing detergent and water with a toothbrush, nothing. I then read about using BUG SPRAY, I used AVON EXPEDITION (other folks have used other brands), and got the remaining residue out. I sprayed it on heavily (on the already wet fabric....it would probably work better without the misguided "wet" treatments between this step and the nail polish remover). Anyway, I wet it thoroughly with the bug spray, scrubbed with a toothbrush over a clean cloth and got it out entirely, although I had to repeat this a couple of times. I also recommend doing this on the back of the denim as I rubbed a bit or a lighter patch over the spot. I am listing the misguided attempts at removal just in case it is in someway beneficial to the chemical process achieved in the end. == == soak them in nail polish remover for 24 hours Here's some help: http://www.jeanshub.com/JeansCare-NailPolishStainRemoval.aspx
