How does formation of soil take place?

Soil is formed by decomposition of remains of plants and animals buried deep underground,,, by various micro-organisms & is indeed a very slow process.....

It is believed dat it takes 800-1000 yrs to form 1 cm of soil rich in organic materials!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
