What is the WS button next to the shifter on the S500 Mercedes Benz?

That button is like a traction control button. The W stands for winter. That's what the dealer told me. But he said don't activate the button unless you get stuck which why would you drive such a nice car in the snow. It also enables like all the horses at your control!!
