Can you plant a flowering maple tree outside In the state of Michigan?

Flowering Maple is a shrub,

its only hardy to zone 9,

so it wont survive outdoors in the winter.

its considered to be a houseplant and used out doors in the summer. its not related to the tree, their common name comes from their maple shaped leaves.
