What does it mean when your airbag light comes on in a 1998 Toyota corolla?

It means something is wrong ... this is a warning light ... something in the airbag system is not functioning properly and most likely will not protect you or an occupant properly in the event of a crash. It is the owners responsibility to keep all safety equipment in full operating condition. The life they save may be their own.
