How many continants are in the whole world?

There are 6 continents that are inhabited in the world. These are North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania. Technically there are 7 continents as Antarctica is one but nobody is a permanent inhabitant there so it is disputed whether it counts or not.
