Would a waxing crescent moon happen before or after the full moon?

A waxing crescent moon occurs before the full moon. It appears shortly after the new moon, as the moon starts to become illuminated by the sun. The full moon follows the waxing phases, occurring after the first quarter and waxing gibbous phases.
